ABOUT JULIA CAMERON

Julia B. Cameron holds her name as an American teacher, author, artist, poet, playwright, novelist, filmmaker, pigeon fancier, composer, and journalist. She is also best known for her book The Artist’s Way. Julia has written many other non-fiction works, short stories, essays, novels, plays, musicals, and screenplays.

Julia Cameron was born on March 4, 1948, in Libertyville, Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago, and was raised as Catholic. She was known as the second oldest of seven children. Cameron started her college at Georgetown University before transferring to Fordham University. She also wrote for The Washington Post and then Rolling Stone.

Julia is credited with starting a movement in 1992 that has brought creativity into the mainstream conversation such as in the arts, in business, and in everyday life. She is known as the best-selling author of more than forty books, fiction, and nonfiction, a poet, songwriter, filmmaker, and playwright.

Cameron is commonly referred to as “The Godmother” or “High Priestess” of creativity, her tools are based on practice, not theory, and she considers herself “the floor sample of her toolkit.

Also a novelist, playwright, songwriter and poet, she has multiple credits in theater, film and television.
